Albany deputies arrest 27-year-old male on felony rape charges
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Albany man was arrested by deputies Monday after the Albany County Sheriff's Office received a report of an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old female. Joshua Gonzalez, 27, faces multiple felony charges, deputies said.
On Saturday, around 9:55 a.m., deputies received a report of a sexual assault of a 13-year-old that occurred earlier that morning at Mosher Park in Ravena. Upon an initial investigation, deputies identified Gonzalez as the suspect.
According to the sheriff's office, Gonzalez reportedly befriended the child through Snapchat and arranged for the two to meet at Mosher Park. Deputies said once at the park, Gonzalez allegedly forced the victim to perform oral sex.
On Monday, deputies arrested Gonzalez. He was charged with the following offenses:
- Rape in the First Degree, a class B felony
- Rape in the Second Degree, a class D felony
- Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony
- Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree, a class D felony
- Assault in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor
Gonzalez was later arraigned in the town of Coeymans Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. According to the sheriff's office, the investigation remains ongoing, as deputies are working in conjunction with the FBI Albany Field Office.
