Sarah Michelle Gellar & Alyson Hannigan Talk 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Reboot
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan are giving new insights into the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.
In a recent interview, the two actresses talked about how they felt like “family” filming the original show together at such a young age.
“It was really like a high school, college experience because it was full on,” Alyson told “SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up.”
“I was 17 when we did the pilot, 18 when we started, so I really was like, I looked to all of them ’cause I was learning,” Sarah said.
Sarah then discussed what her goal is for the reboot.

“I hope that it brings comfort. I think for me that was like, the big thing is that when you realize all these years later that the show still translates. Because sometimes you watch a show that you loved and you see it now and you’re like, “Okay,” but it doesn’t have the same meaning,” she explained.
“Buffy is still hitting people who are watching it for the first time and they’re seeing themselves and they’re seeing their friends and they’re finding their chosen family and I think more than ever right now, as we get more and more divided, we need that chosen family, so I hope to provide a new chosen family,” she added.
The Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot was announced in February, and a month later, it was confirmed that Sarah would reprise her iconic role. Lifelong fan Chloe Zhao is set to direct the pilot and executive produce, with Nora and Lilla Zuckerman writing.
Sarah also talked about how the director and writers drew her to the upcoming version of the reboot.
“Everyone was just trying to redo it and they had a continuation of where it goes now and you know, as Alyson and I now have teenagers and you see the circle of what’s needed, which is actually why we’re here today,” she said.
“We used to play teens and now we have teens,” Alyson chimed in on the full-circle nature of the reboot.
Last week, Sarah and Alyson ended their feud speculation by appearing on another interview segment together.
