Saratoga Springs announces seasonal parking permit registration
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The seasonal parking program in Saratoga Springs will begin on May 26 and run through September 1. City officials said a new permit for Saratoga Springs City School District residents can be purchased monthly or for the entire season at a discount.
While the program runs, parking in city-owned surface lots and garages will cost $2 an hour, $12 overnight from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., and on-street parking will remain free. All permits can be purchased through the City's website.
The new school district permit allows Saratoga Springs City School District taxpayers to pay monthly or for the entire season. The monthly rates are $35 for May and June, $45 for July, and $55 for August and September. The seasonal pass is $100 and must be purchased in May or June.
Downtown business employees can get a free permit through their employer. The employer can register their fleet with the city by emailing parking@saratoga-springs.org for more information.
The Saratoga Springs Public Library has a separate free library permit for library patrons that can be purchased at the library's front desk. Patrons with a permit can park in the library lot on Maple Avenue for three hours of free parking daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or pay to park at the city's hourly and overnight rates.
Anyone with a parking permit can avoid being ticketed by avoiding locations with a two to three-hour restriction. Officials also said there is ticket forgiveness for people who are ticketed for not having a permit but are eligible for one. Any outstanding tickets have to be paid before getting a parking permit.
