Rensselaer ambulance service enters lease agreement with Ambulnz
RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Rensselaer Volunteer Ambulance Service (RVA) has entered into a new lease agreement with the medical transportation service Ambulnz, according to city mayor Mike Stammel on Monday. The partnership will bring an additional ambulance to the city.
Rensselaer residents have reportedly voiced concerns about long ambulance response times for several months. Under the new agreement, Ambulnz will help with transporting patients to hospitals, improving emergency coverage and reducing response times, Stammel said.
The Ambulnz ALS/BLS ambulance will be housed at the old RVA garage, located at 901 3rd Street, according to city officials. Before the ambulance can begin operating, however, the lease must undergo necessary approvals to meet zoning requirements.
As part of the approval process, the Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a meeting on May 27 at Rensselaer City Hall. The Planning Board also had a meeting on Monday. All residents are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions on the new ambulance lease agreement.
"Your input matters, and your support can help bring this additional emergency service to our community," Stammel said in a Facebook post on Monday. "Please attend the meeting s in support of these efforts or provide a written response in regards to any recent long emergency response times you may have received."
