Barbara Corcoran's Penthouse Is Already off the Market
It's not hard to believe that a Shark Tank star got a good deal.
Barbara Corcoran, who has been a Shark Tank investor since its first season in 2009, placed her New York City penthouse on the market for $12 million last week. It should come as no surprise to anyone who saw the photos of the outdoor terrace and the majestic Central Park views that the residence is no longer on the market.
According to the Olshan Luxury Market Report, Corcoran's home on Fifth Avenue was in a bidding war and "went over the asking price" in one day. The final price paid by the new owner will not be disclosed until the deal is officially closed.
Corcoran first spotted her future home in the 1990s while working as a messenger. In a May 6 interview with The New York Times, the 76-year-old founder of Corcoran Realty, recalled what went through her head when she first stepped through the doorway.
“I thought, my god, I’ve never seen anything as beautiful in my life," she said.
The penthouse became available in 2015, and Corcoran snapped it up for $10 million. After extensive renovations, it was officially home. But now, the stairs in the unit are a challenge for her and her husband, Bill Higgins, 80. They are currently looking for a one-story home instead.
“And I’m not running those stairs anymore, either,” she added.
Now, the home is off the market and soon to be in the hands of a new family.
