What happened to Ashley Carroll? 15 years since disappearance
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Family members are still searching for answers 15 years since Troy woman, Ashley Carroll went missing in Albany. As far as family members know, there have been no new leads in recent months.
Ashley Carroll was 24 years old when she went missing on May 6, 2010 in Albany. Jim Carroll, Ashley's uncle said the last 15 years have consisted of some of his longest days.
“They're long because when you got a family member missing, the not knowing is the worst part," said Jim.
Jim said Ashley was last seen in the area of First and Quail Street, where she was allegedly dropped off by her best friend. However, police told Jim that the video surveillance doesn't match up.
“They were checking hidden cameras because it's a high drug area in that area and at the time they went through hours of video tape," said Jim. "The police did not find any video of her vehicle on that day entering that area whatsoever."
In the last 15 years, Jim said nothing has gotten easier.
“Not seeing her at events, and just her not being here you know, words can't even describe when we're having parties and we’re used to seeing her there and she's not there anymore," said Jim.
Ashley also had a daughter who was only one years old at the time of Ashley's disappearance. Her daughter will now be turning 16 this summer.
"She loved that little girl so much, that was her world," said Jim. "She wouldn't just up and disappear like that and leave her little girl behind."
The Carroll family has held a few remembrance events in years past. Jim said Ashley was a warm and loving person and more than anything, he wants her to come home.
“She was a fun-loving person. Ashley would give you the shirt off her back. For this to happen to her or anyone, is just mind boggling. We just want to bring Ashley home, that's our main goal," said Jim.
However, Jim said even just getting answers would be a huge weight lifted off their family's shoulders. Anyone with information should reach out to Albany police at (518) 438-4000 or Rensselaer police at (518) 462-7451.
