Rohit Sharma gets a chance to meet Maharashtra CM following his retirement from Test cricket
Former Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma met Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis on May 12. After the meet, the CM went on to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the pictures and praise Rohit for his incredible journey in the red-ball career.
Rohit Sharma and Devendra Fadnavis had a meeting at the latter’s official residence in Varsha, Mumbai. “It was great to welcome, meet and interact with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma at my official residence, Varsha. I extended my best wishes to him on his retirement from Test cricket and for continued success in the next chapter of his journey!” Fadnavis wrote in his post on X.
For those who are not familiar, Rohit Sharma had announced his retirement from Test cricket on may 7. He marked his debut in 2013 and played 67 matches in whites, collecting 4301 runs with an average of 40.57, also accompanied with 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
Rohit Sharma retired even from the World Test Championship (WTC) as the leading run-scorer for India- as he had scored 2716 runs in 69 innings, averaging at 41.15. When Rohit had started coming as an opener, he had also scored his single-ever double century.
As the captain, Rohit Sharma had scored 1254 runs in 24 matches and completed four centuries and as many half-centuries during this time. However, his best time was when he was under the captaincy of Virat Kohli himself, as he had scored 2397 runs during that period, averaging at around 49- accompanied by 6 centuries and his single-ever double-century.
