05/14/2025: Cooler, a Bit Unsettled Wednesday
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
As a slow-moving system drifts ever so closer to the region today, we will be stuck in its clouds all day long. Unlike Tuesday, a few showers are expected to survive their journey northeastward today, although farther northeast of Albany is where you can expect the driest weather Wednesday. Shower and even thunderstorm chances persist through the upcoming weekend, but no day in particular is near a washout.
Showers are once again more likely today to the south and southwest of Albany, but isolated showers should push north/northeastward into the afternoon, meaning we all have the threat for at least a few drops for the middle of this week.
High temperatures will be much cooler today, only pushing 70 degrees locally compared to yesterday's and Monday's nearly 80-degree high temperatures.
Temperatures will stay mild overnight with lingering clouds, a few showers, and an uptick in humidity. Most areas barely drop below 60, if at all.
Thursday morning looks mostly dry, with clouds breaking to a bit of sun. That sun will destabilize the atmosphere, providing fuel for isolated PM showers, downpours, and perhaps a rumble of thunder. Again, these should be isolated, so many towns and backyards actually make it through Thursday dry, but we all have that chance to get hit by the showers.
Temperatures will be milder once again thanks to the sunshine, with many rising well into the 70s.
Friday and Saturday are more summerlike with partial sun, a bit of humidity, and PM shower/t-storm threats. We are looking at late-afternoon/early-evening timing-wise for Friday's storm potential, but Saturday has less of a consensus amongst guidance with some bringing storms through starting late morning, and others keeping the timeframe in line with Friday's late-day threat.
Temperatures will match the summerlike theme, with highs near 80 degrees both days.
However, we will begin to trend "cooler" for the final three days of the 7-Day forecast (It's all relative, as not long ago we would have been craving highs in the 60s!). A shower or two can't be ruled out at this point for Sunday, but it does look largely dry, largely clouds, with highs near 70. We will break out into some sun, but with some wind, for the start of next work week as high temperatures top out in the lower half of the 60s. More sun is expected for Tuesday as highs start to trend back towards the upper half of the 60s.
