Bill Belichick's Girlfriend Reportedly Issued Notable Apology
The controversy surrounding North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson continues to take on a life of his own.
Belichick made it clear this week that Hudson would not be involved with his professional life this week, but new details are emerging about the start of their relationship.
The Washington Post obtained a letter from Hudson that she sent to her former BlackOut cheerleading team.
In it, she apologized for the media circus she brought after officially confirming a relationship with the former New England Patriots head coach.
"At times, I am sure to many of you it may have felt at some point this season that I was selfishly putting my needs above the needs of the team, or of my teammates," Hudson said in the letter, which appears to be dated around the time that Belichick took the UNC job.
Hudson said that this "perspective is not entirely correct," but also admitted that her "actions were not guided by selfishness."
"I hope you can all understand that my absences were symptomatic of my commitment to put the needs of my other '(teams)' above my own needs for recreation," Hudson added, indicating that she was making a personal sacrifice to increase her commitment to Belichick and potentially North Carolina.
"Selfishly, I always would have preferred to be in the gym, with all of you, doing what I love: cheerleading."
Hudson ended the letter by thanking her former teammates for tolerating the "baggage that comes with having me around. "I know none of you asked for that," she said.
"In the same breath, I can't thank you enough for the sense of grounding you have provided for me during a difficult period in my life. During this time, I have faced a slow, exterior erasure of my strong, individual identity."
This week, Belichick attempted to clarify the extent of his relationship with Hudson, stressing that she has no involvement with his duties at North Carolina. His comments came after Pablo Torre reported earlier this week that Hudson was “no longer allowed in the football building, [and] she is not allowed on the football field."
Belichick is set to debut as North Carolina's head coach later this year, marking his first season as a college head coach.
