Firm hired for plan
to update youth jail
The county has agreed to a $394,320 contract for services related to accessibility upgrades at Marin County Juvenile Hall.
“The proposed consultant contract scope of work includes an evaluation of the facility to identify barriers to access, recommendation of upgrades, preparation of plans and specifications for a future construction phase to implement the upgrades, and design support during the construction phase,” public works official Fabiola Guillen wrote in a report to the Board of Supervisors.
The county received two bids and elected Sally Swanson Architects Inc. of San Francisco. The supervisors authorized the contract at their meeting on May 6.

Fairfax man dies
bicycling on trail
A mountain bicyclist died while riding on the Indian Fire Trail in Kentfield, the county coroner’s office reported.
A passerby found the cyclist unconscious at the trail on Friday. First responders could not resuscitate him and pronounced him dead at the site, Chief Deputy Coroner Roger Fielding said on Tuesday. The cyclist was Jonathan Shaw Corley, 69, of Fairfax.
“The subject appeared to have sustained an unwitnessed medical collapse suspected to be of natural origin while mountain bike riding alone,” Fielding said.
BELVEDERE
Architect appointed
to planning board
The City Council has named architect Ghazaleh Jamei to a seat on the Planning Commission.
Jamei was one of three applicants for the seat. She has lived in Belvedere for 17 years, according to her application with the city. The council appointed her during its meeting on Monday.
The seat is being vacated by Ashley Johnson, who will step down on June 30. She submitted her resignation on April 22, saying she and her family are moving to the East Coast.

Business plan full
of goop intentions
The Slime Kitchen chain plans is opening a studio this week at the Village at Corte Madera.
The business guides customers of all ages while they create playful ooze by selecting bases, scents, colors and other components.
The San Francisco company, founded three years ago, has nine other sites California Nevada, Oregon and Iowa. The Corte Madera site is its fifth in the Bay Area and its first in the North Bay.
