R&B Superstar Chris Brown Arrested in England
American R&B star Chris Brown was reportedly arrested in England on Thursday.
According to TMZ, Brown was arrested at a hotel in Manchester, England on suspicion of grievous bodily harm relating to a nightclub incident two years ago. The 36-year-old performer is accused of smashing music producer Abe Diaw in the head with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in London on Feb. 19, 2023.
Brown, who flew into Manchester on a private jet yesterday, was taken into custody at the Lowry Hotel, Metropolitan Police told The Sun.
‘’A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm," police said in a statement. ‘’He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.
"’The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.’’

Diaw alleges that Brown, no stranger to legal trouble and accusations of violence, attacked him without provocation on that February 2023 night, first hitting the producer in the head with a bottle and then punching and kicking him as he lay on the floor.
"We can confirm that Chris Brown was involved in an incident with our client, and the injuries sustained are serious," Diaw's attorney Ryan J. Daneshrad told TMZ. "We are pursuing all legal remedies to hold him accountable. At this time, we will let the facts speak for themselves through the proper legal channels."
In October 2023, Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown, saying the "Loyal" singer “inflicted severe and lasting injuries” on him and seeking $16 million in damages.
At the time of today's arrest, Brown was preparing for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX Tour, which includes two concerts in Manchester next month. We'll see if his detainment puts a crimp in those plans.
