Chris Brown Arrested in the UK After Alleged Bottle Attack 2 Year Ago
Chris Brown is under arrest.
The 36-year-old entertainer was arrested in Manchester, United Kingdom, TMZ reports.
Chris was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (May 15) over an alleged bottle attack that occurred in a London nightclub two years ago.
He was detained by Metropolitan Police at the Lowry Hotel hours after arriving in the city on a private jet, The Independent reports.
“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 2am on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” the Metropolitan Police shared with The Independent. “He has been taken into custody where he remains.”
“The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on February 19, 2023,” the statement concludes.
Chris is set to perform 10 shows in Britain as part of his world tour.
In 2023, music producer Abe Diaw accused Chris of an unprovoked attack at Mayfair’s Tape nightclub around 3 a.m., saying Chris struck him with a bottle and punched and kicked him.
“He hit me over the head two or three times,” he told The Sun. “My knee collapsed as well.”
He was reportedly taken to the hospital and required crutches after he was discharged. He then filed a lawsuit in 2023 against Chris for 12 million pounds ($16 million roughly) in damages for injuries and losses suffered. Chris has not responded publicly to the claims or lawsuit.
“We are pursuing all legal remedies to hold him [Brown] accountable,” Ryan J. Daneshrad told TMZ, representing Abe Diaw. “At this time, we will let the facts speak for themselves through the proper legal channels.”
A judge reportedly ruled to move the lawsuit forward last year despite a motion from Chris’ tour promoter to strike some of the allegations.
