Ball man arrested for first-degree rape following April incident
BALL, La. (WNTZ) — A Ball man is facing a charge of first-degree rape following an investigation that began last month in Rapides Parish.
On April 25, Rapides Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of possible criminal sexual conduct in the 4000 block of Lincoln Road. Deputies made contact with the complainant and took an initial report outlining the allegations. The case was then assigned to Sheriff’s Detectives from the Tioga Substation for further investigation.
With the assistance of the Children’s Advocacy Center, detectives arranged a forensic interview with the victim. Based on information gathered during the interview, investigators identified Jackson Douglas Gallant, 20, of Ball, as a suspect.
On May 13, detectives located Gallant and detained him for questioning. Following further investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Gallant on one count of first-degree rape.

Gallant was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He remains in jail on a $100,000 bond.
