'Boston Blue' Lands Ernie Hudson for Pivotal Role
The Boston Blue roster is starting to fill up.
After announcing that Sonequa Martin-Green would be tackling the role of Detective Lena Silver alongside Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan, another actor has been cast. The face is a very familiar one to moviegoing audiences who love the Ghostbusters franchise.
On May 16, Deadline revealed that Ernie Hudson would be joining the cast as Reverend Peters, a well-respected pastor of a historic Baptist church. The character establishes the Silver family's deep Boston roots as the reverend will be father to Mae Silver, a city district attorney, and grandfather to Martin-Green's character along with superintendent Ashley Silver, and rookie patrol cop, Isaac Silver.
So far, only Wahlberg, Martin-Green, and Hudson have been announced, and CBS has kept fans in the dark about the other actors playing the significant roles.
“We love the Reagans. We have all loved the Reagans for so long,” Martin-Green said about joining the highly anticipated series during a CBS press conference in Los Angeles on May 7, via Variety. “And I feel that we’ll love the Peters too. I’m super excited for this partnership, and to be back in a CBS family — and in this family, your family. It means a lot, and I’m grateful for it. I think we’re going to have a good time.”
Even though the series is establishing the Silver family, Blue Bloods fans should expect to see some of the Reagan family visiting Danny in Boston.
"Danny’s story will continue the Reagan family. You can’t have Danny without Reagans — there’ll be connective tissue," Wahlberg revealed. "But we’re also going to get to discover a new family and carry on the tradition of telling their stories.”
