Bryson DeChambeau Praised for Scottie Scheffler Gesture
For the fifth time in the last six majors, Bryson DeChambeau finished tied for 6th or higher.
At the 2025 PGA Championship it looked like the two-time U.S. Open winner would give Scottie Scheffler everything he could handle. DeChambeau sat at 7-under after his front-nine during the final round, but couldn't keep the momentum going into the back nine as he finished the tournament tied for second place at 6-under and five shots back of Scheffler.
“It was a good fight, good battle, take a lot from it. It’s just burning a bigger fire in my belly,” DeChambeau told CBS’s Amanda Balionis post-round. “Definitely had an opportunity to beat Rory [at last month’s Masters] and definitely had an opportunity to give Scottie a run this week. Even though I was leading into the third round — or after 16 holes on the third round, but, man, I just didn’t get it done.”
When asked to evaluate his performance, DeChambeau was dumbfounded. “I don’t even know. I’m baffled right now,” he said after the round. “Just felt like things just didn’t go my way this week.”
Even though things didn't go his way, the beloved golfer received praise for his decision to stick around and congratulate Scheffler on his win. "Great job, proud of you," he told Scheffler, who won his third major title.

"Gotta tip the cap to Bryson for always showing so much respect in defeat," Golf Digest said about DeChambeau.
"Bryson understands the difficulty of winning a major tournament and shows respect for anyone who earns a title, honoring their achievement," one fan said.
"It’s very fair to acknowledge how likable Bryson has become over the years. His YouTube channel along with acknowledgement of the fans every tournament definitely helps paint him in a more positive light. Tip of the hat to Bryson," offered another.
DeChambeau will now prepare for the year's third major, which he's already won twice, with a few "tricks."
“I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve that I’m going to be working on and hopefully bring for the U.S. Open,” he said. “I’ve got to get some equipment here soon.”
