Here's How Many New Orleans Prison Break Fugitives Are Still on the Loose
Eleven inmates escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans last Friday morning. One inmate was captured three miles away from the detention center, while three others have been apprehended since. However, seven inmates remain at large. Authorities are speculating that they fugitives were helped by someone on the inside.
Kendall Myles, age 20, was apprehended following a brief pursuit through the French Quarter after escaping juvenile detention centers twice before.
By Friday evening, two additional fugitives were apprehended. Robert Moody, age 21, was located in New Orleans based on a Crimestoppers tip, as reported by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Dkenan Dennis was found near Chef Menteur Highway, announced Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill on social media platform X.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson stated on Friday that it appears unlikely the inmates could have escaped without assistance.
Attorney General Liz Murrill said that “clearly dropped the ball and there’s no excuse for this.”
Authorities indicated that some fugitives may have left the city or the state of Louisiana, urging the public to stay vigilant, remain calm, and report any information.
Approximately 200 officers are involved in the search, with state and federal agencies coordinating efforts. Anyone found aiding an escapee will face charges as an accomplice, according to authorities.
