Natalie Portman Starring in Lena Dunham Netflix Movie
After exploring the topics of dating and romance in her HBO series "Girls," Lena Dunham will take her talents to the big screen. The writer penned the script for and will direct "Good Sex" for Netflix, and the film has some serious star power.
Mark Ruffalo will star alongside Best Actress winner Natalie Portman in the film. Portman is set to play Ally, a couples therapist who's getting back into the New York dating scene after spending years in a relationship.
Netflix says that Ally will get "more than she bargained for when she meets two men, one in his twenties and one in his fifties, who show her there is no set formula for good sex."
Ruffalo's last film was "Mickey 17," directed by "Parasite"'s Bong Joon Ho and starring Robert Pattinson. Portman is set to star alongside John Krasinski in the upcoming "Fountain of Youth" for Apple TV+, as well as "The Gallerist" with Jenna Ortega and Sterling K. Brown.
Dunham rose to prominence through the HBO series "Girls," which ran from 2012 through 2015. She created and starred on the show along with Allison Williams, Adam Driver and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
All three were able to use the show as a launching pad for their careers, starring in major films or television shows after appearing in Dunham's show.
Dunham's most notable feature films in her directorial career include 2022's "Catherine Called Birdy," which starred Bella Ramsey and Joe Alwyn, and "Sharp Stick," which featured Jon Bernthal.
Portman won Best Actress for her role in 2010's "Black Swan," and earned another nomination for the award in a 2016 biographical film on the life of Jacqueline Kennedy.
Portman and Ruffalo have each appeared in significant roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring in some of the highest-grossing films of all-time like the "Thor" and "Avengers" movies.
Portman's production company MountainA will be involved with the film, following a trend of the company's involvement in her past ventures. She helped produce the 2023 film "May December," and the 2024 television series "Lady in the Lake."
Dunham's new film doesn't have a release date, but it's sure to have fans excited after hearing which names are attached.
