05/23/2025: Another Cool, at Times Showery Day
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
The clouds will continue to reign supreme as we go into the holiday week, although each passing day looks a bit drier than the previous. Temperatures will trend upwards as well, with more a seasonable feel in store Memorial Day and beyond.
Through mid to late afternoon, steadier showers will be isolated, with lots of dry time or light drizzle to fill in the remainder of that timeframe. Still, a continued light breeze generally out of the northeast with occasional showers will prevent temperatures from climbing much, very similar to yesterday with high temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
The best chance for light rain on this Friday is leading up to sunset. Guidance is on board with a widespread, steady, but light rainfall by then.
Showers will become less frequent overnight as low temperatures drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s.
I still think many of us see at least a quick shower on Saturday, but it will be more consistently dry than today. Many of the showers that rotate in will be very spotty and light.
So, Saturday is far from perfect, and leaves a lot to be desired for a holiday weekend day. But it is a step up from today and yesterday, especially in the temperature department with highs rising well into the 50s this time around.
It will continue to get better Sunday and especially Monday! We still expect a shower or two both days, and the clouds will hang particularly tougher on Sunday with just a few sunny breaks from time to time. Temperatures on Sunday look to climb back into the 60s. With more consistent sunshine on Memorial Day, temperatures finally look to climb back to around 70. Remember, there may still be a spot shower or two, but both Sunday and Monday will be largely dry and supportive of outdoor plans.
Tuesday looks decent too, with highs more solidly in the lower 70s. A bright start looks to end cloudy ahead of our next storm system, which looks to bring more showers to the region Wednesday and Thursday. At the very least, although unsettled, temperatures stay closer to 70 as opposed to 50 for this next shot of rain at the end of the forecast!
