McDonald's Plans to Test New Beverages
It sounds like the McDonald's beverage menu is going to be getting a bit of a facelift in the coming months as the company is planning to test some new drinks in some of its restaurants across the nation.
On Friday, the company announced that it was closing all of its locations of its standalone beverage restaurant, CosMc's. The company opened CosMc's back in 2023 with the goal of testing new beverage concepts and ideas in a more isolated environment that would not impact the McDonald's experience in its standard restaurants.
"It allowed us to test new, bold flavors and different technologies and processes – without impacting the existing McDonald’s experience for customers and crew. By creating a Learning Lab – in a way that only McDonald’s can – the CosMc’s team was able to test-and-learn in real customer-facing environments, which allowed for greater agility and speed," McDonald's wrote in a statement.
After closing CosMc's, McDonald's announced that it will be testing “CosMc’s-inspired” drinks on its main menu at hundreds of stores across the country.
"Building on the insights gained from the pilot standalone locations, CosMc’s-inspired flavors will be landing at McDonald’s as part of the upcoming US beverage test, seamlessly blending out of this world tastes into the McDonald's experience. With our new dedicated category team focused on beverages, we know we can bring more delicious and innovative drinks to more fans," the company wrote in a statement.
It's not clear when the new CosMc's-inspired beverages will be coming to McDonald's menus or which restaurants will be testing the new beverages. But it's clear that some major changes are coming.
