Plane diverted to Seattle after passenger tried to open doors mid-flight
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A flight from Tokyo to Houston was diverted to Seattle in the early hours of Saturday after a man tried to open the plane's exit doors during the flight, CBS News reports.
The plane landed at SeaTac at 4:19 a.m. after fellow passengers and the flight crew restrained the man. CBS reports the man was having a medical crisis and was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
According to the Port of Seattle, a second person was later removed from the flight for "unruly behavior," but officials said this was "unrelated" to the previous incident.
The All Nippon Airways flight then left Seattle for its Houston destination around 7 a.m.
"The safety of our passengers and crew are our top priority and we applaud the efforts of local law enforcement for their support," the airline said in a statement.
