Billie Eilish sweeps 2025 American Music Awards: See all the winners
Billie Eilish might have been missing in action, but that didn't stop her from dominating the American Music Awards on Sunday. Coming into the evening with the second-most nominations, Eilish swept all seven categories in which she was competing: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Favorite Pop Album for Hit Me Hard and Soft, Song of the Year and Favorite Pop Song for “Birds of a Feather,” Favorite Touring Artist, and Favorite Female Pop Artist.
Eilish, who is on tour in Europe, sent in a gushing video thank-you. “Oh my God, Artist of the Year, this is so crazy,” she said. “I feel speechless, thank you all so much I love you so much. I wish I could be there tonight, I’m on tour, getting to see you all over the world. ... This means the world to me. I am so lucky to get to do what I do, and to do it with you! I love you all so much, thank you guys.”
Beyoncé (Favorite Female Country Arist and Favorite Country Album for Cowboy Carter) and Post Malone (Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song for “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen) were rewarded for their respective forays into country music. Other multiple winners included Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars (Favorite Music Video and Collaboration of the Year for their “Die With a Smile”), Eminem (Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album for The Death of Slim Shady — his first AMAs in 15 years), the Weeknd (Favorite Male R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album for Hurry Up Tomorrow), Bad Bunny (Favorite Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Album for Debí Tirar Más Fotos), and Twenty One Pilots (Favorite Rock Artist and Favorite Rock Album for Clancy).
Kendrick Lamar, who led with 10 nominations, collected a single award, Best Hip-Hop Song for “Not Like Us," undoubtedly to the chagrin of Drake.
Gracie Abrams scored New Artist of the Year, while Doechii won her first American Music Award for Social Song of the Year for “Anxiety.”
Two legends also got their flowers during the ceremony: Janet Jackson and Rod Stewart.
Jackson received the Icon Award, for her "undeniable cultural and global influence over the music industry." The award was introduced by the night's host, Jennifer Lopez, who, before becoming a superstar in her own right, appeared as a backup dancer in Jackson's 1993 music video “That’s the Way Love Goes.” Jackson performed a medley of “Someone to Call My Lover” and “All for You.”
“I’m so grateful. I mean, no disrespect in any way, but I don’t consider myself an icon," Jackson said upon accepting her trophy. "My family, myself, our dream wasn’t ever to be famous. We weren’t raised like that,” Jackson said during her speech following her performance. “We always had a special love for music, dancing and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication.”
Stewart, meanwhile, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. "I had this burning ambition to sing. It’s all I wanted to do," he said before launching into his hit "Forever Young."
Other performers included Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Reneé Rapp, and the combo of Becky G and Manuel Turizo. The ceremony took place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas and aired live on CBS.
The American Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation, Gold Derby's parent company, and Eldridge.
