MGK's New Dance Song 'Cliche' Causes a Stir With Eminem Fans
The feud between rapper Eminem and musician MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) peaked roughly six to seven years ago but began long before that. The iconic rapper responded to MGK commenting about his daughter Hailie on social media with a slight on his album Kamikaze.
MGK later released the song 'Rap Devil,' an entire diss track pointed squarely at Eminem. The Detroit native wasted little time responding, releasing 'Killshot,' a song he reportedly created in just 13 minutes.
Although the back-and-forth between the two hasn't re-escalated since then, it's remained apparent that Eminem fans still have MGK on their radar. The latest proof came when MGK released his new viral dance song 'Cliche.'
The song is far from what fans became accustomed to years ago when MGK released songs like 'Wild Boy' and 'Till I Die.' Since then, many of the songs he's released have had a rock-focused theme, but this song was unique from MGK and received mixed reviews from fans.
Among those who sounded off on the video clip were many Eminem fans, and they referenced the feud in the comments.
"Eminem really broke this dude," said one fan.
"Eminem put this guy on the Disney channel soundtrack," another said with crying laughing emojis.
"Imagine dissing Eminem and then releasing this…," added another.
"Damn imagine getting your career handed to you in a rap battle, you end up doing kidz bop songs," joked another.
"The Eminem effect," read one reply.
"This dude hasn’t been the same since Eminem made him stop rapping…" chimed in another.
While there was no shortage of Eminem-focused responses, MGK's new 'Cliche' song did receive some praise from his fans. It also earned other responses, dropping boy-band jokes, calling him a "Backstreet Boy," among other things.
Regardless, the Cleveland-based musician has shown an impressive range. Along with rap and rock, he can add pop to his resume with this latest release.
