Brad Pitt Makes Rare Public Comment on His Divorce
Brad Pitt has officially broken his silence on his divorce from Angelina Jolie after a long legal battle.
Pitt, 61, and Jolie finally solidified their split back in December, more than eight years after the Academy Award-winning actress filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The entire ordeal was messy and public and included allegations of abuse by Jolie against the Fight Club actor.
In a new interview with GQ ahead of the release of his new F1 movie, Pitt was asked if he felt a sense of relief or that anything was different now that his divorce was settled.
“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally," he responded casually.
Clearly, Pitt didn't want to expound much on the situation, though back in March, a source told PEOPLE he was "happy that the divorce is behind him."
Pitt also conceded to GQ that "my personal life is always in the news."
"It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way," Pitt added.
“It’s been an annoyance I’ve had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do. So, it’s always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that, I don’t know. I don’t know. Mostly I feel pretty…. My life is fairly contained. It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it’s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.”
Pitt and Jolie met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005 and began a relationship. The pair were officially married in 2014, two years before Jolie filed for divorce.
Together, they had three biological children, along with three adopted children. Pitt and Jolie were both declared legally single in 2019, and Pitt has been in a relationship with 32-year-old jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022.
