Washington County, Kentucky, Damage Photos Released After Tornado Reports
A possible Washington County, KY, tornado killed one person and injured multiple others, according to the local Sheriff's Department.
On May 30, 2025, the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky wrote on Facebook, "At 9:48 a.m. We are deeply saddened to report one fatality and multiple people injured during today's storm. Please be respectful during this time. Prayers are needed for this family and our county."
The Sheriff's Department shared a series of photos showing damage from the twister.
"There is severe tornado damage and multiple injuries of people throughout Washington County. Prayers are needed," the agency wrote on Facebook.
The damage photos showed an upside-down car and what looked like remnants of a building. The photos were first shared by Corey Lynn Houk.
The office did not share additional details of the deaths or injuries.
"I’m just so saddened by all this. Thank you all for all you do. Prayers for all affected," a person wrote on the comment thread.
WDRB-TV reported that the storm struck near Pottsville, and it was listed as a "radar-confirmed tornado." However, the station also described the weather system as a "possible tornado touchdown."
According to that station, the storm "downed utility poles, trees snapped, and multiple buildings (were) destroyed."
The name of the deceased person has not been released. The circumstances surrounding the death are also not clear.
According to WDRB, "officials believe the tornado touched down around 7 a.m." on May 30, 2025.
