Acadian to add more ambulances under extended contract with Bastrop County
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Bastrop County's booming population has led to a contract for more health services in the area.
County commissioners and Acadian have agreed to extend their contract, which will provide three more ambulances than the previous agreement to the "newly formed Bastrop County Emergency Services District #3," according to a news release.
“This marks an important milestone for Bastrop County,” said Bastrop County Judge Gregory Klaus in the release. “Commissioners Court appointed a strong leadership team of EMS professionals and community experts to guide the new ESD. Their oversight will ensure continued excellence and innovation in emergency services.”
For nearly 10 years, "Acadian has provided EMS service through a zero-subsidy contract with Bastrop County," the release said. Acadian currently deploys ambulances with stations in Bastrop, Smithville, Elgin and Cedar Creek.
Under the new contract, "Acadian would deploy five 24-hour and two 12-hour ambulances along with a 24-hour clinical supervisor."
The city of Bastrop alone is expected to grow about 40% over the next five years. The new contract is expected to be finalized "in the coming days."
