Fatal crash claims the lives of two in Vermilion Parish
VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A single-vehicle crash has resulted in two people dying in Vermilion Parish.
According to authorities, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Friday night, Louisiana State Police began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on LA 14 near Fore Road. The crash claimed the lives of 69-year-old Brian Mayard of Abbeville and 45-year-old Guy McNeil of Youngsville.
Officials said an investigation revealed that Mayard was driving a Chevrolet Corvette west on LA 14 at a high rate of speed. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet left the roadway to the right, entered a ditch, and struck a culvert before overturning.
Officials said both Mayard and McNeil were unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries, and died at the scene.
A standard toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
