Michael Strahan Makes Decision on ‘Good Morning America’ Future
Michael Strahan is reportedly returning to Good Morning America, but in a slightly different capacity.
There had been reports that Strahan would leave the popular morning show when his contract expires, but on Monday, Semafor reported that the Pro Football Hall of Famer is planning on reupping with ABC.
The contract is apparently not finalized yet though. If and when it is, Strahan is expected to have a slightly reduced role, Semafor said.
"An agreement with Strahan would, however, likely represent a reduction in his daily hosting duties. Strahan’s new deal is likely not going to be a long-term contract, and could see him regularly hosting less than five days a week," wrote Semafor's Max Tani.
Since his playing career ended in 2008, Strahan, 53, has carved out a prolific space for himself in the media world. He's been a full-time contributor to FOX's NFL coverage for the last 17 years and joined ABC in 2010.

After serving as the co-host of Live! with Kelly and Michael alongside Kelly Ripa from September 2012 until April 2016, Strahan moved over to Good Morning America full-time.
In addition to his GMA duties, Strahan has hosted $100,000 Pyramid, ABC's primetime game show.
Away from his work, Strahan has been a major supporter for his daughter Isabella throughout her battle with brain cancer. The USC student and aspiring model was diagnosed in October 2023 and was thankfully declared cancer-free in July 2024, but Strahan has said he and his family remain concerned for her overall health.
"There will not be a time where she's getting a scan where I won't be on pins and needles," he said recently. "I don't care if it's 10 years, 20 years, 30 years from now, you'll always be nervous. And I could tell she feels it too.”
