Cooking over a fire pit is a timeless camping tradition, but the pits themselves can be a pain to pack in a car. Thankfully, Huckberry has taken the guesswork out of shopping for one. The retailer has a perfectly portable fire pit that doesn't skimp on quality, and it's just been marked down by 50%.
The Yoka Cooking Fire Pit is now only $90, half off its usual $180. Yoka (Your Official Key to Adventure) is a Japanese outdoor brand with products coming from solo designer Takashi Tsunoda. The company doesn’t have a huge presence in the English-speaking world, but the designer’s care and adherence to minimalistic principles transcend the language barrier.
Yoka Cooking Fire Pit, $90 (was $180) at Huckberry
The stainless steel fire pit uses a five-piece design that weighs just over 3 pounds. It pops up simply and collapses into a flat plane that is less than an inch thick, making it perfect for camping trips. When constructed, the legs point inwards in a way that provides excellent stability. The cooking grill can be placed in an upper, middle, or lower position in a way that is reminiscent of an oven rack to accommodate different styles of cooking. Or, it can be removed altogether if you wish to skewer kebabs.
A video of the Yoka Cooking Fire Pit in action shows the creator making an elegant meal with the minimalist cooker. Peppers are charred directly on the grill surface, a stew is prepared in a cast iron skillet, rice is prepped in a saucepan, and meat is rotated over the fire itself. You can prepare a meal of just about any style or complexity with this pit.
The Yoka Cooking Fire Pit is an excellent way to bring minimalism to your outdoor cooking routine and ditch space-hogging grills. But it won’t be available forever, so be sure to grab yours while you still can.
