Official Rotten Tomatoes Score for HBO's 'Mountainhead'
HBO released its latest film, "Mountainhead," on Max this past weekend. The early reviews from the critics and audience have been mixed to say the least.
"Mountainhead," is a comedy drama that features Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, and Ramy Youssef. The film is about four billionaire friends who go on a weekend retreat while there's worldwide economic turmoil.
For the most part, "Mountainhead" was well received by critics. As of Monday, 79% of reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes are positive.
"There are beefs, hug-it-out moments, passive-aggressive put downs and eruptions of anger. Part of the fun of Armstrong’s film isn’t just how their behavior spills into a geopolitical events but how it manifests, for example, in which room everyone gets," Jake Coyle of the Associated Press wrote. "All of 'Mountainhead' unfolds in the one location, with white mountaintops stretching in the distance outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. It could be a play. Instead, though, it’s something that either hardly exists anymore or, maybe, exists everywhere: the made-for-TV movie."
The fan score for "Mountainhead," however, isn't very encouraging.
Just 29% of audience reviews are positive. Some fans complained about the film not being long enough at 109 minutes.
"Mountainhead" was written and directed by Jesse Armstrong, who created HBO's award-winning series "Succession."
