Oregon hurdler somersaults over finish line to win state title
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thurston High School junior Brooklyn Anderson had one of the most exciting finishes to the girl's 5A 100-meter hurdles race at the Oregon State Track Championships over the weekend.
The video which shows her hitting the final hurdle and somersaulting twice over the finish line has gone viral on social media with over 47 million views and counting on Milesplit's Instagram page.
She told the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) that it was a scary moment, but her previous experience in tumbling definitely came into play, “All I remember is resorting back to my gymnastics career."
"I wasn't sure how far back everybody else was behind me, so I just knew to just keep rolling. I was just so proud, just very, very happy. Nobody's ever cheered for me that loud before."
It seems a perfect way for her to cross the line as a former gymnast and even though it wasn't a personal best, it was one of the most exciting finishes.
Anderson still finished with a time of 14.93 seconds to win the state title.
