Montas Struggles In Triple-A Rehab Start
In his first start of his final rehab assignment, Frankie Montas struggled, giving up eight hits, including four home runs. The 32-year-old aims to rejoin the Mets’ starting rotation soon, hoping to leave the struggles of these rehab appearances behind in the minors. Meanwhile, Binghamton picked up their tenth straight win behind strong offensive performances from Kevin Parada and Nick Morabito. A collective group effort led the high-flying Brooklyn Cyclones to score 12 runs in a rout over the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Triple-A
Syracuse Mets (27-31) 5, Buffalo Bisons (23-33) 8
- CF Drew Gilbert: 1-for-5, R, RBI (.637 OPS)
- LF Donovan Walton: 1-for-2, R, HR (9), 3 RBI, 2 BB (.724 OPS)
The Syracuse Mets dropped their Tuesday matchup against the Buffalo Bisons, 8–5. After jumping out to an early 4–1 lead in the first inning, the Mets allowed five unanswered runs and never threatened again. Walton launched his ninth Triple-A home run of the season – his career high is 13, set in 2021 while he was in the Seattle Mariners’ minor league system.
- RHP Frankie Montas: 4 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (4 HR allowed)
- RHP Nolan McLean: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Montas didn’t start the final stop of his rehab process on a high note – allowing eight hits, five earned runs, and four homers in just four and a third innings. He has yet to turn in a clean rehab outing, giving up seven earned runs and recording only seven strikeouts over 8.1 innings pitched. McLean took over for the final four innings of Tuesday’s game, once again flashing the electric stuff that has him rapidly climbing top prospect rankings.
Double-A
Binghamton Rumble Points (34-17) 7, Somerset Patriots (24-27) 3
- C Kevin Parada: 3-for-4, 2 R, HR (5), 2 RBI, K (.603 OPS)
- CF Nick Morabito: 2-for-5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K (.771 OPS)
- 3B Nick Lorusso 1-for-4, R, 2 RBI, K (.758 OPS)
The Rumble Ponies beat the Patriots 7–3 Tuesday evening, marking their tenth straight win as they continue to lead the pack in the Eastern League’s Northwest Division. Kevin Parada led the way with three more hits, including a sixth-inning home run. The former 2022 first-round pick has collected seven hits in his last six games.
Jett Williams went 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base.
- RHP Joander Suarez: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K (2.70 ERA)
- RHP Anthony Nunez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Suarez, who has spent time in both Double-A and Triple-A in 2025, pitched a solid four and a third innings on Tuesday. While he consistently holds the opposition to two or fewer runs per appearance (in seven of nine outings), Suarez has yet to eclipse the six-inning mark this year.
High-A
Brooklyn Cyclones (37-15) 12, Wilmington Blue Rocks (21-31) 3
- SS Jesus Baez: 3-for-5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K (.813 OPS)
- C Ronald Hernandez: 1-for-5, R, HR (5), 2 RBI, K (.752 OPS)
- DH Boston Baro: 2-for-5, 2 R, 3B, 2B, RBI, K (.609 OPS)
- CF Carson Benge: 2-for-5, R, RBI, K, SB (11) (.921 OPS)
- 1B Estarling Mercado: 2-for-4, HR (3), SB (4), (.907 OPS)
The Cyclones offense dominated again, beating the Wilmington Blue Rocks 12–3. After an ice-cold start to the season, Jesus Baez seems to be fully back in the groove following his knee surgery last summer – picking up his third three-hit performance of the season, all of which have come in the last 11 games. 2024 first-round selection Carson Benge collected two more hits, extending his hit streak to a modest four games, and is boasting a season slash line of .307/.424/.497 (.921 OPS).
- RHP R.J. Gordon: 3.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K (2.93 ERA)
- RHP Brendan Girton: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (3.38 ERA)
While the Cyclones’ bats get most of the attention, it’s their pitching staff that keeps winning games. Gordon and Girton, a pair of 2024 draftees, held down the Blue Rocks offense, bringing the team’s season total of games, allowing three or fewer runs to 28 (52 total games).
The Cyclones have won seven straight games, and their run differential is now an insane +111 through 52 games of the season.
Low-A
Dunedin Blue Jays (26-26) 3 , St. Lucie Mets (28-22) 2
- 3B Colin Houck: 2-for-5, R, 2B, 2 K (.772 OPS)
- 1B Trace Willhoite: 1-for-4, RBI (.889 OPS)
Houck continued his hot stretch with two hits, including his 10th double of the 2025 season. Houck, only 20 years old, hopes to build on his career-best month of June, during which he slashed .261/.374/.466 (.840 OPS).
- RHP Franklin Gomez: 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K (3.15 ERA)
- RHP Wellington Aracena: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Aracena hit 100 mph multiple times in the outing, and the 19-year-old Gomez had his fastball up to 96 mph.
