Happy Basset Barrel House teases new kitchen addition
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A local brewery is sharing an big update with local customers this week in the form of new food options coming soon.
27 News checked in with Happy Basset Barrel House Manager Heather Jones who said the business is getting ready to unveil a new kitchen area. The brewery gave customers a sneak peek at the new Basset Bites in late May with a grand opening coming in the near future.
Jones said the Happy Basset currently relies on a third party, Beyond Q, to supply customers with food during business hours. However, the new kitchen area will allow the Happy Basset's staff to make their own food in-house.
"We have hired a kitchen manager who does make some great BBQ but want to make it our own and try to have [a] little something for everyone," Jones said.
People who attended the sneak peek of Basset Bites were treated to smoked BBQ pork sandwiches and green chili pork tacos. Jones said people can also expect to find "elevated bar food" with the brewery's beer flavors added to batters and sauces.
"Bringing a kitchen to Happy Basset is going to be a game changer for us," Jones said. "We can finally pair our great beer with food under one roof and elevate the entire guest experience."
Jones said she is most excited about creating a space for people where they can gather for longer, more often and try something new when they visit. While a grand opening hasn't been set yet for the new kitchen, Jones said this is expected to come in the days ahead.
