DOE worker accused of raping 13-year-old girl: DA
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A New York City teacher is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl earlier this year, authorities said Wednesday.
David Ospino, 36, was arraigned Wednesday on rape and endangering the welfare of a child charges in connection to the Jan. 11 incident, prosecutors said.
Ospino, who was off duty, allegedly raped the teen in an unknown Queens location sometime between 5:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to the criminal complaint. It was unclear how the DOE worker knew the child.
The defendant was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case.
Ospino pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday, and bail was set at $50,000 cash and $150,000 partially secured bond, according to court records.
An order of protection was issued for the victim and he was ordered to surrender his passport, according to a spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney's Office.
He is due back in court Friday. His attorney could not immediately be reached on Wednesday.
