Ryan Lochte Breaks Silence Following Kayla Rae Reid Divorce
Ryan Lochte is speaking out after wife Kayla Rae Reid‘s announcement that she has filed for divorce.
On Wednesday (June 4), Kayla posted to her own Instagram account announcing that she had filed for divorce from Ryan. According to court records obtained by PEOPLE, she had filed for divorce on March 26.
In her statement, Kayla said she had been “hesitant” to share the news of their divorce and that the decision had been one of the “hardest” she’s had to make. On the same day, the 40-year-old Olympian posted a statement about the divorce to his own Instagram account.

In his statement, Ryan said that he was “grateful” for the life and three children they shared and that he feels divorce is the best option for himself and Kayla. His statement reads, “This past year has brought major changes for both of us as we’ve come to the difficult decision to end our marriage.”
He goes on to speak on the future of their family and says, “Although this decision hasn’t been easy, I believe it’s the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.”
The news of their divorce comes after Ryan had previously shared that he and Kayla had issues with their marriage and nearly found themselves calling it quits in 2021.
