E-bike fire burns Soldier On shed in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- An e-bike fire fully engulfed a shed on the property of a Pittsfield non-profit and damaged part of the organization's main building. The fire took place just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on West Housatonic Street at Soldier On.
Officials said a lithium-ion battery powered e-bike was charging when it caught on fire, and the fire quickly spread to the entire shed. The 500 sq. ft. shed was fully engulfed with flames. Crews put out the fire within 30 minutes.
The main Soldier On building stands 20 feet from the shed. It sustained damage to windows and roof soffit trim. No one was injured.
Soldier On is a non-profit with the goal of ending veteran homelessness.
