Man Utd keen on Viktor Gyokeres
Manchester United are ramping up their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres as they eye a major attacking revamp ahead of next season, according to Football Insider. The Red Devils are desperate to find a reliable No.9, and the Swedish striker has emerged as their top priority.
Despite missing out on European football — a blow that will affect their summer budget — United remain bullish in the transfer market. Erik ten Hag’s side are determined to reshape their frontline, and landing the 26-year-old Sporting CP star could be a statement move.
Gyokeres, who boasts a prolific scoring record under Ruben Amorim, is reportedly valued at around £83 million due to his release clause. However, Sporting are said to be open to negotiating a lower fee. That flexibility could be key for United, who are juggling their finances while plotting multiple attacking signings.
Yet competition remains fierce. Arsenal have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Gyokeres, and the player is believed to favour a move to North London if bids from both clubs materialise.
Still, United aren’t putting all their eggs in one basket. They’re also targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and remain open to offloading either Rasmus Højlund or Joshua Zirkzee to fund a big-money striker deal. With Matheus Cunha already on board, a reshaped front three is clearly on the cards at Old Trafford.
If Arsenal turn their attention to Benjamin Šeško instead, United could be handed a golden opportunity to finally land their “dream target” in Gyokeres.
