Aldi Announces Major Price Cuts on Over 400 Items
German discount grocery retail chain Aldi continues to spread across the globe, with a special interest in the United States.
In February, the chain announced it would open 225 new stores in 2025, with plans to add up to 800 stores by the end of 2028. After adding over 100 stores in 2024, Aldi revealed it has 2,400 stores in the U.S., making it the third-largest grocery chain in the country.
“Shoppers shouldn’t have to compromise on quality to save money, and at ALDI, they don’t have to. We’ve built our reputation on delivering real value without cutting corners,” Jason Hart, CEO, ALDI said in a statement in April.
“With 25% of U.S. households and counting trusting our products and low prices, we’re growing rapidly from coast-to-coast. Opening stores in Las Vegas gives us the opportunity for continued growth in this exciting market and allows us to bring an affordable and fun grocery experience to shoppers nationwide.”
As Aldi continues to grow across the U.S., the company is planning to make its products even more affordable this summer. Aldi chief commercial officer Scott Patton told USA Today the company will be reducing prices on nearly 25% of its products with prices reduced as much as 33% on over 400 products.
"Summer’s for grilling out, camping, concerts, and quality time with friends and family – not stressing over grocery bills," Patton said in a statement on June 5. "That’s why we decided to offer even lower prices on ALDI favorites all summer long. Our unique business model with smaller store footprints, 90% private brands and strong supplier partnerships means we can deliver real savings where other grocers can’t."
Patton claimed the price cuts, which take place between June 5 and Labor Day, will likely save shoppers about $100 million.
