Council denies appeal
against plan for home
The Town Council has denied an appeal against a home construction project in the Murray Park neighborhood.
The property is 64 Frances Ave., which has a 1,643-square-foot residence and a garage. The owners want to demolish the structures and build a 2,188-square-foot house with a garage, according to the city planning office.
The project requires a slope use permit, a setback variance, a fence height exception, a floor area exception and permission to remove a large redwood tree. The Planning Commission approved the project in April. A group of residents appealed over the extra floor area, the building height and the tree removal, among other objections.
The council denied the appeal at a hearing on Wednesday, said Elise Semonian, the town’s community development director.

One project involves 11 Santa Barbara Ave., where the owners want to build an 815-square-foot addition. The project requires a lot coverage variance.

The commission approved the plans during hearings on Monday, said Jackson Dobronyi, a town planner.
