Portland weekend events: Grand Floral Parade, Bloody Mary Festival and more
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — As the Portland Rose Festival continues, so do several events from the nonprofit and other event organizers.
Here are just seven happenings scheduled for the weekend.
Summer Skate Deck Show
When: Friday, June 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: ADX Portland, 417 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97214
Art Design Exchange is holding its sixth annual Summer Skate Deck Show, with skateboard decks customized by more than 100 local artists. The show will also include music, live painting and food vendors.
KBOO's Queer Joy Fest
When: Friday, June 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Foster Food Carts, 5205 SE Foster Rd, Portland, OR 97206
In honor of Pride Month, the reopened Foster Food Carts is hosting a Queer Joy Fest in partnership with KBOO Community Radio. The party features performances from Coo Era, Cody Riker, Have You Eaten and The Cabin Project.
ZooBrew
When: Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Oregon Zoo, 4001 SW Canyon Rd, Portland, OR 97221
For ZooBrew, the Oregon Zoo invites attendees over 21 to sample products from more than 50 local brewers. The 60% ticket includes 10 three-ounce drinks and a souvenir glass. Proceeds from the event help the organization with its animal conservation efforts.
Grand Floral Parade
When: Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: Multiple locations
Thousands of community members will watch as the Portland Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade makes its way from downtown to Lincoln High School. And this year, the Oregon Zoo’s famous Tula-Tu will be the grand marshal.
The Bloody Mary Festival
When: Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: The Redd on Salmon Street, 831 SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97214
The Bloody Mary Festival brings several businesses to one venue to show off their takes on the classic brunch cocktail. Portland attendees will vote for the mixologist who should take home The People's Choice Award for the Rose City’s best bloody mary.
Dragon Boat Race
When: Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 98 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204
Since 1989, people have gathered along the Willamette River for the Dragon Boat Races. This year, more than 60 teams from near and far will compete in boats provided by the Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association.
Portland Timbers vs. St. Louis City SC
When: Sunday, June 8 at 4 p.m.
Where: Providence Park, 1844 SW Morrison St, Portland, OR 97205
Mid-season is here for the Portland Timbers, with an upcoming match against St. Louis City SC. The game theme is “Pride Night,” and some ticket purchasers will get a limited-edition pride scarf.
