State trooper hospitalized in Thruway crash near Pattersonville
PATTERSONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police announced that a trooper was injured in a car crash on I-90 on Friday. The crash took place around 12:30 p.m. by Exit 26 near Pattersonville and blocked all lanes in the vicinity.
On Friday afternoon, State Police stated that a trooper was conducting a traffic stop on a Honda minivan west of Exit 26 when a tractor without a trailer struck the trooper's patrol car from behind, causing another collision with the Honda. The crash reportedly caused the trooper, who was standing on the Honda's passenger side, to fall down a nearby embankment after being thrown over a guiderail.
According to State Police, the trooper was taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Honda's driver and passenger were brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam to be tended to for minor injuries.
Officials said the Thruway will be closed in the area while the crash scene is assessed, and a traffic diversion has been established near Exit 26. Stay with NEWS10 as this story continues to develop.
