Angel Reese Speechless After Chicago Sky Get Awful Injury News
The Chicago Sky started the 2025 WNBA season with four straight losses before finding two wins in back-to-back games against the Dallas Wings.
Chicago's winning ways came to an abrupt end, though, in a 79-52 loss to the Indiana Fever on Saturday, June 7 as the team slipped to 2-5 on the season. That wasn't the worst news of the weekend for the Sky, though.
Star guard Courtney Vandersloot suffered a non-contact injury during the contest and wasn't able to return. Just a day later, the team learned she suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
"Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a right torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana. Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury. All of Skytown is behind you Sloot!" the Sky said in a statement on social media.
Just 40 minutes later Angel Reese took to social media to share her reaction to the brutal news. She offered a prayer emoji for her teammate, who led the team in assists and steals while sitting third on the team in points.

Before learning the severity of the injury, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh revealed Vandersloot's importance to the team.
"She's our engine," he said. "She's our captain and our leader out there, so obviously, it's a huge blow. But hopefully, it's not as serious as we may think. We're hoping she is able to bounce back, but for the time being, we all got to pick her up. We all got to lift her up; we all got to lift each other up."
Chicago's road won't get much easier as the Sky prepare for a battle against reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty on June 10.
