Popular Steakhouse at Disney World Closing June 15
An iconic restaurant at Disney World will be shuttering its doors on June 15.
Shula's Steak House, named after the late Don Shula, an NFL legend, will be taking reservations through June 14 before closing a day later. A message on the restaurant's website reads, "Shula’s Steak House will close on June 15 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. We thank you for the memories and are excited to welcome Bourbon Steak as its replacement."
Those in search of a good steak won't have to search too hard, though, as Shula's is being replaced by a new steakhouse from James Beard award-winning chef and restaurateur Michael Mina.
“The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is the ideal location for Bourbon Steak,” Mina said in a statement. “Their strong commitment to culinary excellence aligns perfectly with our vision at The Mina Group. We see it as an ideal partnership, and I look forward to spending time with the local team to realize this dynamic new project. Each Bourbon Steak is uniquely designed to represent the environment it is in, and I’m excited to unveil what we have in store for Orlando.”
Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina will be the newest restaurant at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.
“The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin continues to distinguish itself with its food and beverage program,” Sean Verney, area general manager of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin," said in a statement. “Welcoming Chef Mina to our culinary offerings continues to push us forward in our efforts to provide guests heightened dining experiences.”
This will be Mina's third location in Florida, including Miami and a recently opened location in Delray Beach. The restaurant is slated to open in "mid-summer."
