Mark Cuban Makes His Opinion on Bluesky Extremely Clear
Mark Cuban is concerned about the future of Bluesky, which he made clear in a series of posts over the weekend.
Touted as an alternative for Elon Musk's Twitter/X when it opened registrations in February 2024, Bluesky has been experiencing struggles lately. According to Business Insider, Bluesky had more than 1 million unique users daily on February 28, but that number has dipped by one-third, to roughly 670,000 posters as of June 7 and 8.
In his tweets on Bluesky Sunday, Cuban said he felt the app had become too much of an echo chamber, which was hurting business.
"The lack of diversity of thought here is really hurting usage," Cuban wrote, linking to a Washington Post piece with the headline "BlueSky's decline stems from never hearing from the other side."
In a response, Cuban argued that the lack of dissent was actually driving users back to Musk's site.
"The replies on here may not be as racist as Twitter, but they damn sure are hateful," Cuban said. "Talk AI: FU, AI sucks go away Talk Business: Go away Talk Healthcare: Crickets. Engagement went from great convos on many topics, to agree with me or you are a nazi fascist We are forcing posts to X."

In the past, Cuban has been bullish on Bluesky's prospects. The billionaire entrepreneur was one of the roughly 2.5 million people who joined the site in November following the election of Donald Trump.
“Hello Less Hateful World," Cuban wrote in his introductory message on the platform.
Cuban also said a few months ago he was on Bluesky "far more than any other" social media network, but now, he doesn't like what he's seeing.
"I want an alternative to Twitter to survive and thrive I think it’s important for BS to grow as a way to offset or diminish the cultural and political impact that Twitter has. This is why I care," he explained."
