’The White Lotus’ Star Patrick Schwarzenegger Has 1 Goal For His Next Role
Patrick Schwarzenegger knows one type of character he doesn’t want to play when he lands his next acting gig. The White Lotus actor, who played preppy fiancé guy Saxon Ratliff on the third season of the HBO anthology series, told The Hollywood Reporter that his co-star Carrie Coon advised him not to “play another douche” for his next role.
Schwarzenegger, 31, said Coon told him, that she had a lot of friends ask if he behaved like his priviledged character when he was on set, and she advised him, “The next thing you do has got to be different. We got to show that [you have range].”
“And it was good advice, and that’s exactly what I want to do. I want to do something that’s completely different,” Schwarzenegger said.
The actor admitted producers have sent him scripts with stereotypical characters since his White Lotus season wrapped. “I’ve gotten sent a lot of rom coms where the guy is like that typical guy, and I’ve gotten sent some cool action stuff, but it’s not what I’ve wanted to do so far,” he admitted. “And yeah, I guess it’s easy to do something again, but I think it’s really important for the next thing to be different and unique and for me to continuously try to showcase a different side.”
While Schwarzenegger wants to steer far away from his White Lotus alter ego, he previously teased that he’s heard rumors about a possible all-stars season of the Mike White series.
“They could get all the douche guys in one hotel together,” the actor joked to THR in April, adding, “Mike said that one day when we were on set, he was like, ‘Oh my God, it’d be so good to get you, Jake Lacy (Shane Patton on the first season of The White Lotus), and Theo James (Cameron Sullivan in Season 2) in the same room.’”
