Dominique Thorne to Fans Unsure About 'Ironheart:' Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘on the Bandwagon’
When an upcoming television show or movie featuring a new addition to the superhero landscape is announced, it’s common to see uncertainty among some fans. After all, Marvel and DC followers typically have fan favorites, and oftentimes, there can be a “warming up” period when new superheroes are cast.
This has seemingly been the case for the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. Although she's portraying a new superhero, the show's premise is intriguing, as her character creates an advanced suit that's essentially a tip of the cap to Iron Man.
Considering how popular the Iron Man movies are, the character's role in the Avengers series, and Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal, it's easier to understand how people may be on the fence about the show.
However, Thorne was first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so she's not entirely new to the Marvel world. As for the crossover aspect to Iron Man, the actress previously told Empire Online that she "literally got two thumbs up" from Downey Jr. about the role.
Ahead of Ironheart's June 24 release, Thorne sent a message to Marvel fans who are still up in the air about Ironheart, which included a reference to Downey during an interview with The Direct.
"I would say get on the bandwagon. It's here. We're here... I mean, Tony's on the bandwagon, so you know, what's the problem?" Thorne said. "RDJ is here. It's nice here. It's cute here. It's comfy here. It smells good here."
It's hard not to appreciate the confidence from the 27-year-old actress ahead of the show's debut. Downey's excitement for the show is also noteworthy and only adds to the intrigue and excitement.
And to double down on Thorne's message, if you need another reason to be excited about Ironheart, the show also has Sinners and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler on board as an executive producer. The explosive popularity of both movies (the Black Panther series, technically) is a significant positive, and fans should be excited about Coogler's inclusion.
