Tarantula seen crawling over Ring camera in northwest Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s spider season in Texas, and one KXAN viewer woke up to a surprise on their Ring doorbell camera.
On June 6 at 11:37 p.m., a tarantula was seen crawling over a Ring camera in Steiner Ranch, which is near northwest Austin. KXAN viewer Jamie York Pillans sent in the footage.

Tarantulas are common across Texas, but they are more likely to be seen during the Tarantula mating season, which starts in May and lasts through August, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
