Power mostly restored after Slemco outage in Lafayette Parish
UPDATE, 6/13/25, 9:10 p.m.: According to Slemco’s outage map, most of the customers have had their power restored.
According to Slemco's website, a few customers without electricity, but the majority of the outage has been restored.
UPDATE, 6/13/25, 8:45 p.m.: Slemco crews were informed that a bird made contact with energized equipment in the substation.
UPDATE, 6/13/25, 8:30 p.m.: Over 3,500 Slemco customers are with out power in Lafayette Parish.
According to the company's Facebook page, the cause of the outage is due to the loss of two feeders located at the Neuville substation in Youngsville. Crews are headed o the staion to patrol and assess the issue.

ORIGINAL STORY: BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) -- A power outage has left over 3,000 customers in Lafayette Parish without electricity.
All of those without power are customers of Slemco. The cause of the outage is not yet known.
According to Slemco's website, outage affects 3,553 out of 119,787 customers in the Lafayette Parish area near Broussard and Youngsville with over 10 active outages in total.
Earlier today the company posted updates on their Facebook page saying several of their outages were weather related and crews were working to restore power and assessing the damage.
