Beloved Alabama Cajun Restaurant Closing Down After Almost 30 Years
A popular Cajun restaurant is shutting down next week, leaving diners in and around Birmingham, Alabama devastated.
Crazy Cajuns Boiling Pot will close next weekend after nearly three decades in business. The restaurant's final day of service is next Saturday, June 21, Crazy Cajuns said in a social media post.
Originally opened in 1997 by Robert and Lulu Regard of Baton Rouge, La, Crazy Cajuns remained open after the Regards announced they intended to sell the restaurant in 2022.
"Hey Y’all this is bitter sweet. And we are still processing everything. We will comment more later. But for now, just wanted to let you know," Lulu Regard wrote in a Facebook comment about the upcoming closure.
Diners have one more week to enjoy Crazy Cajuns' long list of staples. In the meantime, many customers are lamenting the loss of the restaurant on social media.
"It was a good place to sit outside for lunch on a pretty day. Good food and not quite as pricey as most other Cajun places. If I wasn't the only one in my house who liked seafood I probably would've eaten there more," one Reddit user said.
"I have never been more sad on Facebook. Any chance you would post your remoulade recipe?" one woman wrote on Facebook.
"This broke my heart. almost 28 and this has been my favorite restaurant since I was a very young child. will forever hold a place in my heart!" another woman said.
"I need the black-eyed peas," a fourth person added.
