Tragic Update in Case of Missing Air Force Veteran
Authorities have issued a tragic update in the case of Iraqi War Air Force veteran Jonathan “Scotty” Roach, 43, who went missing on June 8 after leaving his Arlington, TN, home for a walk.
On June 12, at around 1:45 p.m. local time, Roach’s body was discovered in a wooded area abutting a cornfield several miles from his home. Although the news has not been officially confirmed by authorities, Roach’s wife, Tracey, confirmed to Action News 5 that the body belonged to her husband. His manner and cause of death are still unknown. The heartbreaking discovery came after nearly a week of searching by volunteers, as well as officials from Homeland Security, the Emergency Management Agency, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
“My husband is an Eagle Scout. He’s 14 years Air Force, lots of training there,” Tracey told the outlet. “He is white-water rescue trained. He does kayaking, and nature is his place. At our home, we have bees, chickens, and a garden. That’s where you’ll find Scott, outside. That’s his place where he processes all of the stuff that is going on.”

“There is a song by Adele that says, ‘You feel like home, you sound like a song, you feel like a movie,’ or something like that... that’s my husband,” Tracey continued. “Very loving and compassionate. We’ve been married 13 years, and he’s never yelled at me one time, he’s never said a bad word in our house, he’s constantly there for people who need him. There’s nobody who meets him who doesn’t fall in love with him.”
Roach left his home on June 12, leaving behind his cell phone and his vehicle. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Officials with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Men’s Journal.
