Third detainee who escaped NJ ICE facility taken into custody
NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) --- A third man who escaped from the Newark ICE facility last week was taken into custody Tuesday, authorities said.
Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes was arrested at 10:45 a.m., according to the FBI. Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez and Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada were taken into custody earlier this week.
The men escaped from Delaney Hall in Newark on Thursday night during a riot that broke out because of insufficient food. Officials said the men broke through the drywall to access an exterior door of the facility.
Sources said the detainees were scheduled to be deported when they escaped.
Authorities are still searching for Columbia native Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon, officials said. The FBI is now offering a $25,000 reward for information on his whereabouts.
Pineda-Mogollon overstayed his tourist visa after coming to the U.S. in 2023, and he has been arrested for petit larceny in New York City and for residential burglary, conspiracy residential burglary, and possession of burglary tools in New Jersey, officials allege.
Authorities allege that Honduras native Bautista-Reyes is in the country illegally and was arrested in New Jersey for aggravated assault, attempt to cause bodily injury, terroristic threats, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
Sandoval-Lopez came into the U.S. from Honduras as a minor and has been arrested for unlawful possession of a handgun and aggravated assault, according to DHS.
Castaneda-Lozada is also from Colombia and has been arrested for burglary, theft, and conspiracy to commit burglary, authorities said.
The public is asked to call 911 or the ICE Tip Line: 866-DHS-2-ICE if they have information.
